The Moving Picture Girls

The two plucky sisters, Ruth and Alice DeVere, help their quite skeptical dad, a theater actor who's gone and lost his voice, find a new career in the silent film industry in New York City. First published in 1914, "The Moving Picture Girls" is a fun, romantic romp through the early days of a fascinating industry. Laura Lee Hope was a pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate and its successors, most famously associated with the Bobbsey Twins children's novels. Created by Edward Stratemeyer, the Stratemeyer Syndicate was the first book packager to have its books aimed strictly at children, rather than adults. Wildly successful, the Stratemeyer Syndicate was at one time believed to be behind the overwhelming majority of books read by children in the USA.
